Cosmetic dentistry using three different materials at the same time. Both of the molars were restored with Empress onlays. The bicuspid right next to the molars was restored with CEREC, and the bicuspid that is next to the CEREC was restored with composite. What a difference!

This is an example of what exists in many peoples’ mouths. Two old mercury(silver) fillings that exhibit obvious signs of breakdown. The molar on the far right has a tarnished corroded mercury filling that was estimated to be about 10 years old. The molar to the left had a mercury filling of similar age that was causing darkening and discoloration of the enamel surrounding the filling. This is a sure sign of decay and is usually apparent long before decay can be detected on an xray.
Both fillings were removed and the presence of decay was noted in both teeth. Upon complete excavation of decay, the right molar was restored with a white composite filling. The left molar was more damaged and required porcelain onlay for strength and reinforcement. We created a procad porcelain onlay in one visit using CEREC3D, a computerized milling machine that creates beautiful durable restorations win a single visit.
